Pentagon Reportedly Plans to Delay Iran School Strike Investigation Until After Midterms

Sean Bartley · Oct 15, 2026 · 1 min read

Senior Pentagon officials reportedly intend to delay the public release of an investigation into a deadly U.S. airstrike on an Iranian elementary school until after the November midterm elections, according to new reporting from Bloomberg.

The February 28 strike on Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab, Iran, killed more than 150 people, including at least 123 children.

Let that sink in. More than 120 children were killed in an American military strike, and now officials are reportedly planning to keep the findings from the public until after Americans cast their ballots.

What the Investigation Found

According to Bloomberg’s reporting, investigators identified serious failures involving outdated intelligence, flawed targeting information, and excessive reliance on artificial intelligence.

The investigation has reportedly been largely complete for months.

Advisers to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have reportedly communicated plans to delay its release, although no final decision has been announced.

The Pentagon maintains that the investigation remains ongoing.

Congress Has Already Demanded Answers

Lawmakers have repeatedly demanded transparency about the strike.

In July, Democratic senators called for the Pentagon to release its findings and explain how such a devastating failure could have occurred.

Those answers still have not been made public.

This Is About Accountability

Here’s what makes this so damn disturbing.

If Pentagon officials are deliberately withholding information about the deaths of children until after an election, the American people deserve to know why.

This isn’t some minor bureaucratic report. We’re talking about one of the deadliest incidents involving civilian children in modern American military operations.

Families lost their children. The public deserves the truth. And the people responsible for the failures that led to this tragedy must be held accountable.

The Pentagon should release the investigation immediately. Not after the election. Not when it’s politically convenient. NOW.

Cup of Culture will continue following this developing story.
